The first Podge Lunch for the creative community took place in the private room of Quaglino’s 19 years ago in February 1994 and Digital Podge hit the ground running in December 2003 at the Atlantic Bar & Grill.
A lot has happened online since the first Digital Podge lunch 11 years ago, not least that the publisher and editor in-chief of New Media Age who encouraged me to organise the first one are no longer with Centaur, and neither is NMA itself. The merger of Centaur & Econsultancy heralds “all change” and it’s nice that representatives from the past and present will all be with us at this year’s lunch on 22nd November.
The raison d’être for the Podge Lunches have not changed since its inception in 1994, the aim is to bring together leaders in the field to enjoy a long afternoon chatting to people at the same level who have the same issues as they do and to share war stories and plan for the coming year with new ideas. Many collaborations have come out of the annual lunch not to mention two weddings and five babies. No speakers, no raffles, no auctions, a superbly designed theme for each lunch and above all FUN.
Usual Podge rules apply, nobody gets to choose who they sit next to and half way through the lunch half of the 240 guests will be asked to change tables. If you made the cut, see you there.

“We are not the ‘Connecting Users’ brand nor the ‘Connecting Consumers’ brand.
Guess what? We are a bunch of great, fun, quirky, offbeat, unusual, charming minds that speaks with people as whole: people who love, laugh, learn, play, work, earn money, communicate, and much more.
Our role at Nokia is to support every aspect of people’s lives to have a richer, fuller life every day with connectivity, information, friendship and fun. Not tomorrow or some time soon, but today. That’s why we make devices and experiences that empower people to look at the world with new eyes, to reach out and take risks, to push themselves, express themselves, share more and grow. It means to be truly alive. Nokia empowers people to live adventure everywhere. People — not consumers — is where we stand as a brand.”

2012 was a big year for the business as it merged with Centaur and has exciting plans for the future, including the successful Festival of Marketing launch that took place recently in London. Charlie Salter is joining podge regulars Ashleigh Freidlein and Peter Abraham this year for our Realtime themed lunch.

www.crowehorwath.net/ukThis year Digital Podge is proud as punch to have Propel on board. Many of you may know of them, indeed some of you have likely found jobs or made hires with them, but if you don’t they really are Digital Podge people.
Having been in digital recruitment since it dawned, they really know their onions when it comes to putting great teams together and helping or finding the best talent in the market. Their CEO and Co-Founder, Melina Jacovou, is a well known face, and someone who has been working with Podge for years. If you don’t know her already, meet her tonight and you won’t forget her!
I can confirm that the boys and girls at The Drum know how to party. They produce a fantastic magazine, and hand out the sort of silverware that Arsenal fans can only dream of at The DADI awards, The Social Buzz Awards, Cream London, the Roses Design Awards and, of course — the legendary Chip Shop Awards.
We’re delighted to welcome founders Gordon Young and Nick Creed to this year’s Digital Podge lunch and with Gordon’s recent move to London there are no excuses on leaving the bar before the bacon butties are served! At the 2012 digital podge lunch The Drum featured 12 olympic posters created by agencies in the room on Digital Podge spoof posters. This year The Drum are running an Xmas Card competition for the guests at digital podge asking agencies to design the xmas card of another agency.
www.thedrum.comIt takes a lot of great agencies and individuals to pull everything together for the annual lunch and this year Creative Agency Weapon7, Big Data specialists Corethree, UX agency We Are Ignition and Engage Sciences have been fantastic. Not to mention Hamish at Google celebrating the birth of his first child by buying everyone in the room a drink after the lunch, top man. And our photographer Christine Donnier-Valentin is a great addition to the digital podge team.
